God Watches Over Us

God was watching over us this morning!  Dan was on his way to Carroll, IA about an hour and a half from where we live, very early this morning.  An 18-20 year old girl was going the other way and fell asleep at the wheel.  She crossed the center line and nearly hit the car in front of Dan.  As that car swerved out of the way, Dan saw that she was still headed toward him, so he also swerved and ended up going through a ditch and a cornfield.  The girl woke up when she hit the opposite shoulder of the road.  This whole scenario could have turned out quite differently, but God was watching over us.
Thankfully:

• Dan was paying attention and was able to swerve out of the way and avoid a head-on collision that the sheriff on the scene said would have probably killed both Dan and the girl who fell asleep.
• I receive the call about the accident from Dan and not the police or hospital or worse.
• David was not in the car.
• The girl who fell asleep at the wheel turned around and came back to make sure Dan was okay and so that she could give him her insurance information.
• The man in the car in front of Dan also turned around to make sure he was okay.
• Dan was able to come home and spend the rest of the morning and afternoon with David and I!

The Lord has a plan for Dan and I am so glad that part of that plan is to still be with us today!  No one was hurt, the girl is going to be drinking a lot more coffee before she gets behind the wheel, and my husband and David's daddy is safe!
