Well, the big news of today is that I did not get the teaching job for which I interviewed. I am a bit disappointed, but a little relieved. I am very comfortable standing up in front of a choir and leading rehearsals, but the idea of stepping into a program with no idea where they are in their musical education and trying to provide a similar environment for the students is very intimidating. Part of me is relieved that I don't have to face that fear yet. But, it would have been a great learning experience and I am sure I would have thrived.
In other news, I interviewed for a promotion within my current job and that interview went very well. I took this job for the advancement and learning opportunities and I am really excited that I may be moving forward! I probably won't find out if I was selected until the 18th of August, but I will let you know! Honestly, I will be really disappointed if I don't get this promotion, and hopefully, that won't be the situation. But, if it is, I do have other options: I can continue in my current position and not make enough money, I can substitute teach, or I could nanny. At least I have several things to fall back on!
I should know where my career is headed within the month. So, while I wait, I will hope for the best.
