Be Careful What You Wish For

Well, yesterday I was thinking it would be really nice to have a snow/ice storm and get stuck in Iowa for an extra day of vacation, and now I'm stuck in Iowa for an extra day of vacation. Unfortunately, the extra day is turning into a pain in the ass! First of all, Dan and I left for Madison and made it a grand total of 14 miles in 45 minutes and saw at least 8 accidents (not old accidents, but "just spun off the road and landed in the ditch 5 seconds ago" accidents and we decided to turn around and go back. So 45 minutes later we are back at Dan's parents house and I have been on the phone canceling my day tomorrow. That means, I have to use another day of PTO and I have to figure out how to see the kids I can't see tomorrow on another day of the week....sigh......be careful what you wish for! I think we made the right decision because Dan's dad told us that the roads only get worse to the northeast, exactaly where we were heading! Plus driving 288 miles at 35 mph would have made for a long drive and late night.....providing we didn't end up in the ditch! But, I now know that an extra day of vacation due to weather really isn't worth it!
