My Favorite Kind Of Day

Today was my favorite kind of day.  A day where my only responsibilities were to be a mother and wife.  I didn't have to be a teacher, an enforcer of classroom expectations, a colleague.  I didn't have a list of phone calls or e-mails to deal with; all I had to do was enjoy my family!

David woke up at 8:30, a bit on the early side for him, and he was grumpy.  After pushing over his high chair twice while I was getting breakfast ready, he had a time-out.  After the time-out, I gave him a hug and he was just fine.  We ate our oatmeal together and I drank my coffee on the kitchen floor while I helped David spell all sorts of different things with our letter magnets.  Unfortunately, we are missing the "Y" so I was unable to spell several of his requests.  But, we spelled "Bibi" (that's what we call Dan's mom), owl (from Winnie the Pooh), orange cat and Tiger (the cat across the street that sits in the window), and David.  Then, we read books, books, and more books.  Ok, to be specific, we read the same 4 books about 10 times!  After a trip to the grocery story and a tasty spaghetti lunch, it was nap time.  David and I both slept for 2 1/2 hours!  More books and a batch of "Umbus" (we have no idea what this is, but he cooks it all the time in his play kitchen and it is apparently very delicious) later, we had dinner and watched the new Tigger movie that came in the mail!  After a bubble bath, David and I snuggled in his rocker until he fell asleep.  I know that he will soon be too big for that, so I take advantage of snuggles every chance I get!

Now, I am sitting on the couch, next to the adult love of my life, getting ready to wrap this up so we can watch Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.  I am embarrassed to admit that, but Dan sort of got me hooked, so we watch an episode on Netflix almost every night after we put David to bed!

This has been a busy day, but it has been such a wonderful day, with no obligations.  Just a day to do my favorite things with my favorite people!
