My poor Ruben! He was just fine this morning when he woke me up to feed him. But, when I got out of my shower, I noticed that he wouldn't open his left eye. Dan and I went to the grocery store and when we got back, his eye was all red and swollen shut. I packed him up and took him to the Emergency Vet. He was a very good boy for the vet (which is a big surprise) and he was diagnosed with a cornial ulcer. Basically, he either has got a scratch on his eye (the best prognosis) or he has a foreign body in there (a not as good prognosis). If it is just a scratch, the ulcer should heal in about 3 days and he will be just fine. If it is a foreign body, it can take significantly longer to heal. Either way, he has to have antibiotic ointment put in his eye three times a day and he has to wear an Elizabethan collar! Poor guy. He is not very happy about all of this and he keeps running into things with the collar! And Ruby, his sister, is very concered about all of this! I hope my Love Bug starts feeling better soon!
