Despite my occasional posts complaining about my job (we all have bad days!), I really enjoy my work. I am challenged every day, I get to play with kids, I get to supervise other therapists, and I get to watch autistic children overcome some of their disabilities. It is increadably rewarding.
That being said, today I REALLY enjoyed my job! We had an all-day training that was extremely informative and interesting. I can't believe that 5 and a half hours of lecture went by so quickly and that I didn't feel like zoning off or falling asleep! The training discussed how the brain of an autistic person functions and the treatment types that are most beneficial. The presenter also talked about the most effective ways to manage meltdowns and children that engage in self-injury behaviors. The best thing about this training was the positive outcomes for most of the kids. It just reaffirms the quality of the therapy we use! I am proud to be a part of improving the lives of autistic children and their families.
