After struggling for months with my cats and their claws, I finally found the purrrr-fect solution: Soft Paws! Ruben is great at using his scratching post....and my desk chair and Ruby's favorite place to scratch is the couch. I tried double stick tape (they pulled it off), I tried squirting them with a squirt bottle when they scratched, I tried to show them the scratching post and gave them treats when they used it and I even sprayed the scratching post with cat-nip tea (there is such a thing and it is supposedly an excellent sleep aid for people!). Unfortunately, I had no luck, so I began to look into getting them declawed. This is a controversial issue because declawing is like "amputating at the first knuckle." It is also a harder surgery the older the cat gets; my cats are only a year old, but the vet still recommended extensive blood work to make sure they would be safe under anesthetic. Ultimately, declawing is extremely expensive and I worry about the personality changes it could bring. Thus, I began my great internet search which lead me to Soft Paws! They are caps you glue onto your cats claws and this keeps their scratching from ruining furniture and causing bodily harm! The caps and adhiesive are non-toxic and the cats shed the claws off every 4-6 weeks when they shed the outer layer of their claws! While my cats didn't exactly enjoy having them put on, they don't even notice them. The can still play, stretch, and scratch normally, but now it doesn't ruin the furniture! And for the length of time they last and their price, these Soft Paws are amazing! The caps come in many festive colors, but our cats just have clear ones! I am really happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone with cats! Now, if only I could get paid for being a spokesperson...Until next time...
