A good decision
When Dan and I moved back to Iowa a little over a year ago with a brand new baby, we started to think about things that we could and couldn't live without. I cannot live without a clean house. My mother will laugh at this statement because getting me to clean my room when I was younger was a huge challenge and it always took me forever to do. But, my anxiety and stress levels increase the more messy my house is. Now, to some extent, I have to deal with clutter because I have a 16 month old, but when the mess is Dan's or mine, it drives me bonkers! One would think, with this strong desire to have a clean house, that I would be sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, etc. on a regular basis. Unfortunately, cleaning is the thing that is always pushed to the bottom of the to-do list. So, Dan and I made the decision that we would hire someone to clean our house. People always seem surprised that we have a cleaning lady, but, honestly, it was one of the best decisions we have made in regards to our home! She comes twice a month and cleans the house from top to bottom for a very reasonable price. I love the days that she is here because it forces us to tidy up the toys and papers, empty the dishwasher, and organize the clutter; and then she scrubs everything until it shines! Even my nightly wipe down of the counters in the kitchen looks like nothing after she is done with our house! So, right now, I am sitting in a clean den with the vacuum patterns still on the floor and the windows are open so the fresh scent of clean is mixing nicely with the crisp smells of fall. So, even if people think it is silly that we have a cleaning lady, it is worth the money and lower stress levels for us. And really, they are probably just jealous! ;-)
