Promotion Weekend

This weekend, the beautiful Sarah will be getting a promotion!  She will move from the position of "aunt elect" to a full-status aunt!  Dan's brother is getting married this weekend and we are so excited for Sarah to officially join our family and for David to get his first official aunt.  They asked a handful of friends/family to bake small wedding cakes instead of buying one big one, so I finished my wedding cake tonight and I feel like I need to add a disclaimer.  This was my first attempt at doing more than baking a cake in a 9x13 pan and using frosting and sprinkles.  I created a double layer almond pound cake (delicious) with homemade buttercream frosting(even more delicious).  My BF, and David's unofficial aunt, and her mother helped me learn how to do the decorations when we did a practice cake about a month ago.  Tonight, I did the decorations on my own and though it is far from perfect, I think it is good enough to not be displayed on CakeWrecks!  As long as the cake survives the 40 minute car ride to the wedding tomorrow, all will be good!

Plus, I get to take tomorrow off work.  My dress for the wedding is beautiful and a size smaller than what I used to wear! (Hooray for Weight Watchers!) Dan looks really, really good in his suit.  And, David will be the cutest toddler there!
