My Sewing Machine Sucks

Ok, so I love my sewing machine....but right now, I kind of hate it! I have no problem hemming up a pair of jeans, sewing a cute purse, et cetera. But, when it comes to hemming a pair of yoga pants, the machine and I disagree. So if any of you readers have hints, they would be much appreciated! The yoga pants were a little short in the leg for my taste, so I cut them off into yoga capris. I know the fabric won't fray, but I want to hem them so the bottoms don't roll up in the wash. I purchased the appropriate needle for sewing knit fabric and have tried everything from straight stiches to zig zags of various lengths and every time, the fabric doesnt' feed through, instead it gets pulled into the machine below the slide plate. So, I am giving up for the time being so I don't end up ruining these cute yoga capris. Any suggestions?????

Hey beautiful! You might try adjusting the sewing machine tension. Pay careful attention to where the tension is set beforehand, though so you can set it back when you're done...you use the same tension for a lot of fabrics. But you might need to lower or raise the tension to help. Hm...that's all I can think of. If that doesn't work, I'd just slip-stitch them by hand. That's how I usually hem stuff (esp. if I don't necessarily want the hem to show!)

Thanks, Kell! I will try messing with the tension and see what happens!
