FAUST

We have entered staging for Madison Opera's production of Faust. Tonight we staged through the big chorus number in Act II and, wow, is it going to be great! The opening chorus scene in the tavern is high energy and lots of fun (complete with me kissing one of the basses to spite some nuns in the scene!). The next big scene with the chorus is the enterance of Méphistophélès, the devil. This scene is extremely intense and scary.....complete with us, under the spell of the devil, acting out fantasies (sexual, violent, etc.) The fantasy I am a part of is murder! One of my fellow chorusters strangles me! We spend a good deal of time under Méphistophélès' spell and as quickly as we succumed, we snap out of it and remember nothing! I can't wait until we add lighting because this scene is going to be scary! I am excited for staging the rest of the week!
